The former assistant to both Jez Robin and Charlie Pinsard, who filled the role for the last part of the most recent season, gets his big opportunity and, in the form of Justin Le Tissier and Paul Bourgaize, will have a couple of

familiar faces alongside him in the Port Soif dugout.

For Le Tissier, the club’s successful U18s coach, it marks a step up, while Bourgaize is well know to all the squad having served as No. 2 to Robin during their back-to-back Priaulx League title period.

Gillease, 34, is excited with the chance and has already had the encouragement of positive times ahead with news that all the club’s GFC contingent are keen to play for him if the opportunity arrives within the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions or beyond them.

‘Tom Strawbridge is back on board and has said he will help us out whenever he can and train with us whenever he can,’ said the new coach.

‘He will make himself available for Rovers.’
