The traditional Doric Insurance-sponsored Rawlinson Cup is pencilled in to start on Monday 27 July, with the final on Saturday 8 August.

Meanwhile, last night’s annual meeting of the Guernsey Football League Management body confirmed that entry fees for all its competitions for the 2020/21 season will be waived.

GFLM is acutely aware that its member clubs lost much-needed revenue during the lockdown, added to one of the most weather-interrupted winters. Therefore, the GFLM board wanted to help those clubs by reducing their costs for the upcoming season.

In relaxing the purse strings, GFLM treasurer Paul De La Mare said: ‘The GFLM operates as a not-for-profit organisation so has limited capacity to assist and limited avenues of funding.

‘However, in these exceptional times, we recognise that clubs and their players are likely to feel the pinch from this crisis for some time to come. Therefore we have dedicated what reserves we can to ease the cost of clubs participating in competitive football, to ensure that we get as many people as possible back on the field of play as soon as the season is allowed to start.’
