In yesterday’s La Grande Mare-staged qualifier, the 2019 over-55s age-group title-holder posted a gross 74 to finish joint fourth with George Melhuish.

But on countback the Royal Guernsey man went through into Wednesday's matchplay semi-finals alongside top qualifier Bobby Eggo (66), Andrew Boyd (68) and Nigel Vaudin (73).

Boyd’s superb nett 62 won him the nett section by two strokes from Mike Still.

The women's event is purely a strokeplay event and Jan Chamberlain ran away with the title, posting a gross 76 to win by six shots from Di Aitchison and Mandy Webber. Island champion Veronica Bougourd was fourth after an 83 and Helen Banks’ 69 was the best nett score.
