St Martin’s move nine points clear

STORM ALEX disrupted the weekend’s FNB Priaulx League schedule, but it could not blow leaders St Martin’s off course.

Leon Meakin’s side increased their lead at the top to nine points on Friday night when they hit Vale Rec for six at Blanche Pierre Lane.

There were two goals for Dom Heaume and one each for Ben Coulter, Chris Le Noury and Louis Hunter as well as a Rec own goal as perfect Saints extended their winning run to seven league games.

The wet weather prevented either Sylvans or Rovers from closing the gap at the top on Saturday afternoon as their game was postponed with St Peter’s unplayable.

Manzur, who would have moved into the top three with a win, were probably disappointed that their match with Alderney did not fall foul of the weather because, having made the trip to the northern isle, Mark Romeril’s side suffered a 3-1 defeat.

It was just a second victory of the season for the Ridunians.

Back in Guernsey, Belgrave Wanderers registered their first win since August as they beat Rangers 5-1 in a match moved from St Andrew’s to the KGV 3G pitch.

The margin of victory saw Bels jump three places in the table and above Manzur on goal difference.
