The chase for the FNB Priaulx League title took another dramatic twist as leaders Rovers went down 2-1 to Manzur at the Track.

Meanwhile, up at St Peter’s, Sylvans recovered from an early deficit at home to Rangers to win 5-1 and close to within two points of the leaders with a match in hand – a handy position going into back-to-back Saturday clashes with St Martin’s and Rovers.

Manzur coach Mark Romeril has suffered much on the touchline this campaign but this time could only purr at the quality of the performance.

‘I thought our eighth-choice keeper did very well too,’ said a smiling coach having seen Glyn Dyer step into the breach and play a blinder.

‘All season we felt nothing had gone our way in terms of injuries and stuff like that, but fair play to the lads. I said before the game “keep going, it will turn and you will get a big result”.

‘They deserve that because they battled really hard.’

Manzur's goals came from Marlon Jardim and captain Craig Young before Carlos Canha halved the deficit for Rovers.
