The 17-year-old did not feature in the Robins’ U23 league clash at Charlton yesterday, but he is expected to feature for the U18s in a FA Youth Cup tie against Nottingham Forest next Monday.

Vance keeps in regular touch with Bristol’s coaches and said the youngster is doing ‘very well ... progressing’.

Scott had been upgraded to train and play with the U23s after the first national lockdown. ‘They felt it was more appropriate to have him train with the U23s, which is a significant development,’ said Vance.

The Robins’ U23s train with the club’s first-team group but since the latest lockdown they have to cut numbers due to training constrictions and for that reason he has headed back to the U18s, who train elsewhere.

‘He’s got a good head on his shoulders and homesickness hasn’t affected him at all.’
