A very timely near perfect performance

THE Rack A Holics came ever so close to achieving an impressive whitewash towards the business end of the Captain's Challenge Premier campaign.

Paul Prior’s team handed Hampshire Autocross a huge 15-1 defeat to close the gap significantly on champions Dishinators, who settled for a tamer 10-6 win over Tokers.

The upshot is that the relative newcomers now lag the champions by just two points overall – and, with just three league nights remaining, every win truly counts.

‘It was a great result,’ delighted captain Prior said.

‘We knew we had only four games left of the season and with a seven-point deficit, we needed to throw in a few big performances.’

That they achieved.

At the Mariners’ Inn, Prior had joined forces with Dale Martel, Dillon Indge and Kev Holland to romp through the opposition.

Hampshire’s Mick Bichard prevented a perfect run by sinking Indge in the sixth clash of the night.

Meanwhile, Adam Shorto, Danny Le Marquand and Jamie Le Cheminant starred for Dishinators in posting three wins apiece at the Hampshire Lodge.

Fellow snooker star Glenn Le Prevost slotted in for Ryan Le Page to secure their other win.

Gary Allen and Paul Brimage stepped up to head Tokers’ campaign at two wins each.

Both leading teams will line up against the same opponents this week, before the top two meet on 17 December for what could prove a pivotal head-to-head.

In the developing Tuesday Division, Pocket Rockets have shot off to an 18-point lead.

This follows a 13-2 victory over Mission Impossible where they benefited from the excellence of Michael Bostock, who is now 21 wins from 21.
