Rangers win with their last kick of the game

AN ASTONISHING finale saw Rangers snatch just their second victory of the FNB Priaulx League season at the Track last night – in their first outing after suffering a 12-1 defeat.

Although unable to stifle a rampant Sylvans on Saturday, Darren Ogier's young side bounced back in terrific style with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Manzur sealed by a goal with virtually the last kick of the game.

Louis Travis had given Manzur the lead on the stroke of half-time before substitute Shane Billien had equalised midway through the second half with a cracking volley.

Just when it looked as if they would earn the point their efforts merited, Rangers conceded an 88th-minute penalty but Rob Cowley got down low to gather Liam Mahon's tame spot-kick.

Then came the final, amazing twist in the tale.

Having withstood a late Manzur barrage, Rangers broke on a 95th minute counter-attack, cavalry-charge style, and Reece Le Brun rammed home when Jordan Kelly's save of Lorcan Gallagher's initial shot fell to him.

'So proud' was their coach's immediate reaction afterwards.
