Today he will be one of Bristol City’s main attacking threats as the club from Ashton Gate take on Fleetwood Town in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

And it is with this game in mind that the young Sarnian has been back training with his U18 peers, rather than the senior first-team, said his father Noel.

Scott snr said it will be frustrating not to be able to travel over to the UK and see his son possibly win his first England U18 cap against Wales in Cardiff next Monday.

‘I can’t get there because I’d have to take two weeks off,’ he said in relation to the island’s current quarantine rules.

However, he will be able to watch the game online with the game to be streamed live by the Welsh FA.

Although coach Kevin Betsy has named 24 for the clash, Scott Snr added: ‘I’d imagine he would get some game time.’

Tony Vance, meanwhile, admitted he imagined the days of Guernsey producing a professional footballer were gone.

Speaking to GP Sport’s Tony Curr he said: ‘It’s amazing, probably didn’t think that would happen after Matt [Le Tissier]. Since then we had a couple of pros in Chris Tardif and Dave Waterman but since then it has been fairly quiet and this is fantastic to see.’

Vance, who briefly coached Scott at GFC, said that even if the 17-year-old does not get pitch time next week, it will have opened his eyes again.

‘If he doesn’t he will at least have been around that environment which is where you want to be.’
