Coming on among a raft of England substitutions after a goalless first period, Scott looked perfectly at home for the England U18s, who ran out 2-0 winners.

Playing on the left of midfield, the Bristol City youngster enjoyed a lot of time on the ball.

Back on island, Guernsey Football League Management have OK’d a request from clubs to have five substitutions per game for the remainder of the FNB Priaulx League season. The increase to five subs comes into play immediately.

Martyn de Garis, the Sylvans coach who initiated the move in the interest of players’ welfare post-lockdown and with a hectic two-and-a-half-months of football, said he was delighted.

‘Ironically, though, I can’t take five subs to Alderney this weekend because there’s not enough room on the plane.’

Meanwhile, Jersey FA president Bradley Vowden has revealed that should the governments give the go ahead to allow summer inter-island travel before 30 April, Guernsey and Jersey will get the Muratti Vase semi-final out of the way double-quick.

‘It’s fantastic, everybody’s on board,’ said Vowden after last week’s Inter-Insular Committee meeting.

‘Alderney and Guernsey will arrange very quickly a semi-final and the winners will play against Jersey. Probably the last weekend of June.’

Vowden added that’s probably enough time to organise and to coordinate everything.

‘It’s not a simple factor, not just a game. There’s a lot that goes into it in terms of security, of hospitality, corporate entertainment and everything that goes goes with it.

‘And we just hope that we’re in a position where there’s an air bridge or there’s an agreement between islands that will allow it.

‘But if it doesn’t, we’ve tried. It’s out of our control.’

Reg Atkins, president of the Alderney FA, said the Inter-Insular Committee ‘have taken the only decision that was possible’.

He added: ‘We do not want to do a semi-final if there’s no possibility of seeing a final.

‘By delaying the decision until 30 April, they have given it every opportunity for the inter-island travel situation to be resolved.’
