THE man is the island captain and leads the Green Lions, but Jamie Dodd holds no special place or makes demands at St Martin’s.

Dodd will again be on the bench as Saints look to make it five wins out of six since coming out of lockdown by taking down Manzur at The Track tomorrow.

Saints’ coach Leon Meakin acknowledged the the GFC captain is fully fit, but would have to wait his turn to start.

‘We have got three games in a week and he will get a run out somewhere,’ said Meakin of a player who, after knowing the Green Lions were not going to have a normal season, has said all along that he did not want to take the place of a Saints regular, such as young Brad O’Regan.

‘Jamie is very relaxed about it. He is just back being involved and he knows the drill and is not just going to walk in the team.’

Saints have now gone eight games undefeated and have not lost in five months when they were stunned in Alderney.

Rovers, meanwhile, entertain Northerners tomorrow and coach Kevin Gillease admits he has not yet decided how best to re-jig his attack in the absence of Fin Whitmore who has finally returned to university in the UK.

‘It’s a shame – we are going to miss him,’ said Gillease.

‘Not just on the pitch but around the place. He is a big a character around the dressing room.

‘They are big boots to fill.’

Gillease may recall Dale Webb to play up top with Carlos Canha and Sam Hall in support. But he might also choose to push Blair Howitt forward.

Besides Whitmore, another who will not be involved is holding midfielder Jack Batiste, but there is good news surrounding his knee injury.

It is not the ACL tear which was feared but just a tweak of ligaments and he is targeting a return in the final month of the season.

Also tomorrow, Belgraves head up to Alderney and Rangers host Sylvans at St Andrew’s.

All three domestic games kick off at 2pm, the match at Mount Hale an hour earlier.
