After being crowned Guernsey women’s champion last month, yesterday she added the senior women’s crown to her ever-growing CV by making up five shots on first-round leader Jan Chamberlain at La Grande Mare and pipping the defending champion on count-back with both having finished on a gross aggregate of 159.

Playing in the same group, Bougourd carded a closing 78 compared to Chamberlain’s 83 to take the title.

Di Aitchison finished third on 164.

Suki Brocklebank came out on top of the handicap competition adding an excellent 65 nett, which was by far the best round of the second day, to her opening 72 to finish seven shots ahead of the field on 137.

The men's competition, also initially a two-day strokeplay, sees Bobby Eggo, Nigel Vaudin, Andrew Boyd and Neil Tangy going through to a matchplay semi-finals to be played this Saturday also at La Grande Mare. The Senior Men's Championship title will then be determined in the final on Sunday.

Andy Boyd also retained the Men’s Senior Island Championship Handicap trophy.

Players witnessed near perfect conditions for round two on a course that was in excellent condition with fast greens and challenging pin positions and stark contrast to Monday’s wet conditions.
