Indies' first-wicket pair flay Cobo attack

RAVENSCROFT Independents are still in the Odey Wealth Evening League One title race after easing past Norman Piette Cobo by 47 runs on a hot evening at KGV.

Skipper Nathan Le Tissier was the star of the show, hitting a fine half-century as part of a key first-wicket stand of 83 with Zak Damarell which rattled along at eight an over until Josh Butler drew the left-hander down the pitch and Fintan Ridgwick completed a straightforward stumping.

Cobo did well to pull Independents back over the final 12 overs and a target of 154 may have been intimidating but certainly within their capabilities.

But with Jamie Nussbaumer not batting, the pressure was on the skipper to perform and after reaching 17 Butler was caught and bowled by Kieran Le Gallez.

Fellow Island men Ben Ferbrache and Ollie Newey also failed to make a big contribution.
