Scott lands four-year deal on 18th
FRIDAY’S Championship loss against Swansea was not what he wanted, but Alex Scott’s 18th birthday weekend was bigger than one result.
On Saturday Bristol City marked the landmark day with a new four-year contract for the Sarnian who had won more rave reports for his showing against the Swans in a televised clash.
Scott, though, insists: ‘I haven’t achieved anything yet.’
True, he has not, but Scott is making fantastic progress. The midfielder has matured on and off the field and this season has started all four Sky Bet Championship matches for Nigel Pearson’s team.
Scott first joined City’s Academy in December 2019 and has progressed through the Under-18s and Under-23s, signing a professional contract in March of this year.
Now he has committed to the Robins until 2025 and he reflected: ‘It feels great. It’s what I’ve been working towards since I was a child and to push on this season is what I’m aiming for. I just want to go out there and prove I am capable of playing at his level. Progressing and working hard is the main thing.’
On what is another proud day for the player’s family, Guernsey FC and its manager Tony Vance, Scott admitted: ‘It’s all happened so quickly and I’ve just got to keep going.
‘I haven’t achieved anything yet and I want to achieve a lot more in the game.
‘I’m loving it in the Championship. You know the players in this division are strong, physical and technically good but it’s a great league for me to progress. I’m enjoying each game, they’re all tough but we’ve got to keep looking forward and getting more points on the board.’
