As the Priaulx League’s oldest football club develop their plans for the future, they have turned to ‘Big Fal’, who will take on the role alongside his Guernsey FC involvement, and he will start immediately.

‘It’s a huge honour to join Rangers and I am looking forward to getting stuck in,’ he said.

‘My passion for football is the same as it was when I was a player. It’s an amazing sport that brings people together.

‘I plan to savour this experience and share every last bit of what I have learnt over the years.’

A legend in Guernsey sport, as a footballer Fallaize won 19 Muratti caps in a stellar playing career with North and Saints. He has been a highly successful coach, too, at both domestic and representative level.

Jono Robilliard, who has been nominated as the club’s new president, believes Fallaize’s appointment is the start of ‘a really exciting chapter for the club’.

‘He is hugely passionate about helping us take the club forward, he is a footballing man who wears his heart on his sleeve,’ Robilliard said.

‘He’s the coach that anyone in Guernsey football would want to play for so this is a huge announcement for us.’

Robilliard, who is the third generation of his family to be involved with the club, with his son Freddie being the fourth, said there would be a new committee proposed at the annual meeting next month.

‘Lorraine Ellis and Yvonne Kaill have been the backbone of the committee for many years and have really kept the club going,’ he said.

‘I’ve been involved with Rangers for 32 years and I really wanted to get more involved, particularly with my kids starting the Rangers journey in minis.

‘We have rejigged the committee, added business acumen to allow us to restructure and there is now a real energy around the club to produce teams which challenge for titles.

‘We strive to be an inclusive and family-orientated club. From minis to vets, it is one club, one badge, one family.’

The role is being supported by Ravenscroft with Fallaize working with the company to support its work in the community.

‘Sport, in our view, is not only an important but also an essential part of a community, it builds relationships, bonds people together and provides a great deal of enjoyment for all involved, both players and supporters, which is why Ravenscroft has always been particularly supportive of sport,’ said group managing director of Ravenscroft Mark Bousfield, who has been coaching with the club for a number of years and has been nominated as the new chairman of Rangers.

‘Fal’s enthusiasm and passion is infectious and he has vast sporting experience. He is a people person and I am sure that his role with Ravenscroft will develop and grow over the coming months and we’re very excited to be working with him.’
