The RAF provide the opponents and 15 bouts are scheduled for the Amalgamated Boxing Club Open Show in the Beau Sejour sports hall, with Billy Le Poullain topping the bill.

‘We lost quite a few boxers during lockdown,’ said head coach Ben Duff.

‘Some went home [Tomasz Kot and Oblie Botchway], while others lost interest, but we are starting to rebuild and should hopefully have a strong and committed team moving forward,’ he added.

One of the debutants is Finn Walsh, the 17-year-old son of Matt Walsh, one of the island’s all-time great boxers.

‘He took up the sport with his dad during lockdown to keep himself busy, but has progressed well and is looking forward to carrying on the family tradition,’ said Duff.

As for Le Poullain, it will be his first appearance in nearly two years. The classy Commonwealth Games fighter is in preparation for the national elite championships, while Tom Teers and Niall Adams are preparing for the development championships which are all happening across November and December.

The other home debutants are Scott Little, Dannie Le Flem, Martins Kublickis, Kristian Allen and Cameron Hards.
