In Monday’s final he defeated third seed Ben Foss in four sets at the GTTA Centre, making it two tournament successes out of two, having won the Senior Group event last month.

Lawrence is in a rich vein of form having so far maintained a 100% winning record in league competition this season for Whistlers B.

Both semi-finals threatened an altogether different final.

Phil Ogier led Foss 9-6 in the fifth before the latter hit back to win 12-10.

And it was exactly the same outcome in the clash between the Stacey brothers, Lawrence triumphing 12-10 over Josh.

Lawrence will now have to wait until early January and the annual Capelles Open to try and make it three ‘majors’ in succession.

Before that, though, he and the rest of the island’s top players have the Channel Islands Open Top 12 qualification tournament on 4 December.
