Those naughty ‘Terrors’

TONY VANCE has pointed the finger at Tooting and Mitcham for what he believes were underhanded late changes to their team that won 2-1 in a dramatic fashion at Footes Lane.

‘They did not play the game by the letter of the law and they were allowed to get away with it,’ said Vance, who was upset that the visitors made two changes to their team within two minutes of kick-off, which was subsequently delayed.

Vance said ‘The Terrors’ should be heavily fined and, because of their actions, their late use of subs, including bringing on two players who scored, should not have counted.

‘It is not sour grapes – the bottom line is we should have won the game,’ said the GFC boss who, apart from the crucial late lapses, was fairly pleased with his team’s performance.

Vance, who believes the late pre-match changes should have counted as substitutions, had scouted the south Londoners in midweek only to discover that they made seven changes to the XI that started against the Green Lions.

‘My scouting report went out the window,’ said a frustrated Vance yesterday.

For all that, Vance considered his team had performed ably and deserved something from the game.

‘We controlled the game, I thought.

‘In the second half I thought we were excellent. It was a smash and grab.

‘The positives are that we have shown the level we can play at.

‘They will finish comfortably mid-table and we matched them. We had them where we wanted them and then two sucker blows.’

Tooting and Mitcham went up to 11th with the win.
