A hat-trick of losses for Raiders
RAIDERS slipped to their third defeat in as many weeks at Clifton on Saturday and now lie fifth in the table, six points off the joint leaders Redruth and Esher.
The Guernsey side were very much in the game until running out of steam in the last quarter and went down 40-17.
They clawed their way to just two adrift at 17-19 at half-time and were just 10 points down with 18 minutes left.
The Guernsey tries, both converted by Owen Thomas, were scored by Joe Andresen and Matt Armstrong.
Thomas also landed a penalty and briefly thought he had gone over for a try of his own, only to be denied by an eagle-eyed touch judge who spotted his foot on the line.
Raiders have a chance to get their promotion bid back on track with a home game against whipping boys Westcliff next Saturday.
