St Martin’s made to battle by revived Belgraves

ST MARTIN’S duly went nine points clear at the top of the FNB Priaulx League at the Track last night but, against the odds, out-of-form Belgraves gave Leon Meakin’s men a fright.

Trailing 2-0 to Dom Heaume and Fraser Maginnis goals at the break, Wayne Bishop gave Belgraves a lifeline with a fine finish just before the hour mark and the champions were forced into a defensive rearguard for much of the remaining half hour.

Belgraves welcomed back a string of players from injury and suspension and were much more like the side that started the season so well.

Saints have now gone 27 league games without defeat.
