The Guernsey girl made her debut for Cheltenham at the recent Nationals as their goalkeeper.

During the preliminary rounds Cheltenham remained undefeated in all four matches and were set to face the formidable City of Manchester in the finals.

The tightly-fought final finished an impressive 8-5 to Cheltenham.

Linton has made huge progress in 2021 after being selected to play for the South East Region, winning bronze at the inter-regionals, a performance which saw her selected for National trials and a place in the Cheltenham team.

Reflecting on the Nationals, Linton said: ‘It was an amazing opportunity and I loved every minute. I can’t wait until the next event.’

Casey Osborough, chairwoman of Guernsey Water Polo, heaped praise on the youngster.

‘This was Tara’s first time playing at this level, first time playing for Cheltenham and then in a National final against City of Manchester. The pressure she must have been under is unimaginable, especially as goalkeeper.

‘The whole [Guernsey] club is incredibly proud of her achievements and we are excited to see what 2022 brings.’
