Tobin crosses divide

FRANK TOBIN’S surprise weekend switch to Jersey Bulls did not catch Tony Vance on the hop and the GFC boss said he would not be at all surprised to see him back at some stage.

Nor does Vance see it as a big blow to lose the defender, who has moved to Jersey with his work.

‘It is a disappointment to lose him, but we kind of lost him six weeks ago and I would not be surprised he comes back.

‘I won’t lose any sleep over it.'

While describing him as a ‘fantastic player’ Vance said Tobin has been testing to deal with.

‘Those who have coached him will probably echo my comments in that he is so up and down, and that while he is an excellent player I should not be surprised he has signed for Jersey Bulls, but at the same time I am surprised.’

Vance noted that the defender had missed a lot of games this season.

‘There is no bitterness from me, no disappointment. I would have liked to had him available 24/7 but never really did this season. The best thing is that we have Jacob Fallaize back.

‘My message to GFC supporters is that we probably have not seen the last of Frank.’

On signing, Tobin gave Bulls fans this message on social media: ‘Now I’m living in Jersey I am delighted to be joining the Jersey Bulls and be part of their journey.

‘I share the club’s ambition to progress in the EFL.’

Having had to see Tobin in training for the first time, Bulls boss Gary Freeman said ‘it looks like he is going to fit in well’.
