Saints extended their unbeaten run in the league to 14 matches this season with a 6-2 victory over Rovers at Port Soif on Saturday to effectively end the blue-and-whites’ title hopes.

Danny Hale scored a hat-trick for the champions to add to goals from George Mason, Ollie Smith and Fraser Maginnis after Max Simpson-Cohen had given the home side a flying start with a goal after 27 seconds.

Fin Whitmore netted the other Rovers goal.

Second-placed North conceded an early goal to Sam Heathcote at St Andrew’s but came from behind to beat Rangers 4-1 with a brace from Sam Murray and a goal apiece for Joe Alvarez and Keene Domaille to remain nine points behind the champions with a game in hand.

In Saturday’s other top-flight games, Bels beat Manzur 5-1 at the KGV with two goals each for Wayne Bishop and Stu Roussel while Joby Bourgaize netted the other while at St Peter’s Sylvans let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Vale Rec.
