The previously-sidelined great covered one of his winning legs in just 10 darts last Friday night and, with that, matched Mick Ogier snr’s mark from 1997 in a particularly competitive league that boasts more island-level players than any other domestically.

Allez struck one 10-darter around a decade ago but had not done so in the Triples until he hit a 100, 180, 171 and a bullseye checkout to stun Paul Poullain in the final leg of a 3-0 victory.

After taking time out for a shoulder operation last season, Allez has enjoyed a rapid return to top form.

‘I was over the moon to hit a 10-dart leg as that is the second time I have done this and it was great to equal the record, which only myself and good friend Micky Ogier have achieved,’ he said.

‘It is some achievement to do as it is only one dart off the perfect leg.

‘I just want to get back to being the No. 1 darts player in Guernsey and on the form I am in I will get there, especially after my shoulder op last year.’

The stellar form of Allez, who hit three 180s all told and a usually outstanding 13-darter on the night, spearheaded his new Spitfires team as they beat Busters 5-4.

But his 10-darter is clearly the outstanding achievement of the night and led statistician Peter Allen to comment that ‘any Triples record is special’.

Allez is also the proud owner of a long-standing Triples record for the most 180s in a season – 37.

But he is currently tied with six other players, including lifelong darts stalwart Allen, for the single-night record of five maximums.

‘If anybody’s going to break that record, it’s probably him as well,’ Allen added.
