The Green Lions beat Isthmian South Central’s bottom side Staines Town 8-2 to move six points ahead of their hosts and three points clear of the bottom three with several games still in hand.

However, a worrying injury to Ross Allen, picked up in the act of scoring his second goal on 38min., saw him depart the action before the game restarted and GFC will hope it is not too serious a problem.

Six goals came in an amazing first half with Charlton Gauvain giving the visitors the lead before Allen doubled it, only for Maciej Tajs to get one back immediately.

Matt Loaring made it 3-1 before Jack Torbett curled in a cracking free-kick for the hosts, but Allen restored the two-goal advantage before the interval.

After the break, Tom Jackson scored GFC’s fifth and Loaring then added his second from the penalty spot after Gauvain was fouled.

A Chris Allen own goal made it seven before Will Fazakerley completed the scoring from the spot after he had been brought down.
