The Guernsey racing star and inaugural Porsche Carrera Cup North America champion will be emulating his famed father Andy in contesting the prestigious international series, which incorporates the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

At just 21 years old, he will take up a seat in the No. 77 Porsche 911 RSR of Dempsey-Proton Racing alongside Christian Ried and Harry Tincknell. The latter partnered Andy Priaulx during his full WEC campaigns in 2016-2019.

Priaulx jnr described this as a ‘dream come true’.

‘I never thought I’d do Le Mans at such a young age, really,’ he said.

‘It’s something that I’ve watched my father do many times but it’s not something I thought I’d do for a long time, if ever.

‘I’m so happy and so buzzing for this year that I can’t actually believe it ... it’s surreal for me at the moment but I’m really excited for the year ahead.’

Priaulx will be in Spain testing before the series begins with the 1,000 Miles of Sebring on 18 March.

He will be competing in the LMGTE Am class, where each team includes competitors of mixed grades – Tincknell is rated platinum, Priaulx silver and Ried bronze.

Tincknell is renowned for his LMGTE Pro victory at Le Mans in 2020, but Priaulx’s rivals will also be brimming with class.

‘There’s professional drivers throughout,’ the Guernseyman said.

‘This is proper racing, this is as high as it gets. I think it’s the biggest championship apart from F1, apart from Nascar and all that, but it’s close.

‘It’s a big championship, so to be competing in this championship is an honour, really.’
