At a commitee meeting this week, the club decided that they will not be entering a side in either the top-flight or in Lancaster Division One next season.

‘We will see this season out, but for 2022-23 we will have just a vets team, effectively going back to what we started out with,’ said Manzur secretary Rob Thomson.

‘Manzur FC will still continue and we will be fulfilling our teams’ fixtures this season, but we wanted to make this decision as early as possible to give the GFLM [Guernsey Football League Management] plenty of notification.

‘Also it allows the KGV to be used by someone else.’

Manzur, who came close to joining forces with Rangers last summer at a time when coach Mark Romeril said the club had ‘come to the end of the road of our current model’, have struggled to field a consistent side in the Priaulx League this season, especially once Guernsey FC’s Isthmian South Central campaign belated got under way and players recommitted to GFC.

They have earned just eight points from 18 games in the top-flight to sit eighth of nine team with two wins and two draws to their name thus far.
