The nine-year-old was invited to attend the academy at the beginning of the year and his recent visit included a training session and a club game on day one before a match against an U11 academy team the following day in front of a large crowd.

Macfarlane fitted in really well and scored several goals on his trip to play with Manchester City, who are renowned for having one of the best facilities in the world and the strongest academies. The state-of-the-art training and playing facilities where all age-group academies and senior men’s and women’s team train and play are linked by an overhead bridge connecting the Etihad Stadium where the Premier League games are played, keeping everything and everyone together.

‘I really enjoyed playing at the Academy and am looking forward to going back again soon, especially as this is the team I support,’ Kyle said.
