To be more precise, they touch down in the island today to take on Guernsey FC this evening as Chipstead, who go by the nickname the ‘Chips’, come to Footes Lane for what Tony Vance describes as ‘an important game for us as we have targeted a certain points total and end of season position and we are not there yet’.

However, the GFC manager is giving Ross Allen a ‘much-needed rest’, while Kieran Mahon is suspended and Tom Jackson is ill.

In the reverse fixture in October, Chipstead won 3-0 at home against a GFC side playing only their second game of the season. The league’s second top-scorer Tom Collins netted twice for the Chips on that occasion, but has subsequently moved to Hanwell Town.

Also on target that day was Andy Kabuikusomo, who is Chipstead’s leading scorer this season with 14 goals including seven in the last seven games, a period in which the Chips are unbeaten.

‘When we played them early on the in the season, we were very much second best. They had a bit of a wobble mid-season, but seem to have picked back up again,’ Vance said.

The match kicks off at 7.45pm.

GFC squad: Hanley, Kelly, Marsh, Martin, Rihoy, Dodd, Fallaize, Strawbridge, Le Tocq, L Mahon, Acey, Gauvain, Loaring, Domaille, Fazakerley, Skillen.
