Greens don’t scare us – Concanen
Alderney player-coach Josh Concanen says that his side ‘aren’t frightened by Guernsey’ ahead of the Muratti semi-final at the Mount Hale ground on Saturday afternoon.
‘We know where we stand and I think they know where we stand, which is why they’ll bring their strongest team because they know that with a little bit of luck the result could fall the wrong way for them,’ said the boss.
‘It’s been a strange couple of years so it’s good to get back to it, it’s the biggest sporting day on the calendar over here.
‘Everyone knows the tradition of the fixture and how many years it spans back too, it’s great to have that between islands as it generates real buzz and competition,’ he added.

Concanen’s men currently sit sixth in the Priaulx and have picked up just seven wins from 22 this campaign, although the coach warns Guernsey that they will be a much improved side this weekend.
‘We have that full squad this year and it makes a big difference when we have a starting XI that know their roles in the system we’re trying to play.
‘Joe Blackham makes a difference with his pace, he’s grown up a lot in terms of being able to put the ball in the back of the net, but the squad definitely goes deeper than that – especially with our attacking options.
‘Josh McCulloch is perfect for Murattis, he’s grown physically into a striker that can hold the ball up for us and win fouls.
‘Jason Atkins is also back, he’s 44 now but he is just ridiculously good for how old he is, he’s such a professional,’ said Concanen.
