Following on from a successful trial with the club in January, it was confirmed last Friday that the Guernsey U18 midfielder had agree a one-year professional contract at the same time it was announced that Tim Ap Sion will join as a first-year scholar.

‘It’s something I’ve worked for my whole life. You have times when you doubt it and you have times when it’s “I can do this”,’ said Acey on the new episode of the Guernsey Press Football Podcast.

‘Obviously, I’ve not made it yet or anything, but it’s such a good opportunity and to see that [social media post] was really nice.’

Acey will move to Bristol once he has completed his A-levels here and he cannot wait to get started, especially with his close friend Alex Scott having made such a big impact there.

‘The facilities there are incredible. While I was there I was living the same life as them pretty much and obviously it was demanding but it’s what I enjoy doing so it just felt like I was playing football, so I’m really excited to go over there, prove myself and just get better every day and hopefully progress and follow in Alex’s footsteps.

‘He hasn’t set low standards, that’s for sure, but my target is to make my first-team debut next season.

‘Whether that happens or not, I don’t know but that’s my target and I think it’s not out of reach if I play well for the U23s. That’s the pathway up, so fingers crossed.’
