That is how Seb Priaulx described his first Le Mans experience as a driver ahead of this weekend’s legendary 24-hour race.

At just 21, he is about to take his place on one of motorsport’s biggest stages – and it is still sinking in.

‘I’ve been dreaming about it since I was a kid’, he said.

‘It seems so unreal that I’m here racing on the streets of Le Mans. I can’t believe it’.

Priaulx will make his bow on the famous circuit alongside Harry Tincknell and Christian Ried in the No. 77 Porsche of Dempsey Proton Racing.

It is a combination which topped the podium at Spa in Belgium last month and, having qualified third in their class for Saturday’s race start, confidence is high they can deliver another strong performance among the total field of 62 cars this weekend.

‘Car’s quick, we’re P3, but everything’s to play for tomorrow, everyone turns up the wick,’ Priaulx said in the paddock ahead of a team meeting on the eve of the race.

‘We’ll give it a go, give it our best shot, and hopefully get a good podium if we can.

‘There’s a lot of pressure on you for the whole race, but we’ve had a lot of time in the car and I’m really excited for it.’

That time in the car will be invaluable for Priaulx junior, who already knows what this enormous spectacle of speed is all about after seeing his dad, Andy, race here many times.

‘I watched my dad when I was young and I’ve been going through the emotions of this race since the beginning’, he said.

‘It’s great to be here doing what my dad’s done before.’
