Guernsey professional Josh Lewis is co-founder of Entire Performance Coaching, who have overseen Le Cheminant’s rapid rise over the last three years.

This culminated in the teenager winning his age group and placing seventh overall in the Olympic distance British championship event at the Leeds Triathlon weekend.

‘We’re very proud of how Thierry is developing,’ Lewis said.

‘He’s a really engaged athlete with a great attitude, and his continual outstanding performances are a testament to this.

‘He’s just at the start of his senior sporting career and is already showing so much potential, which is really exciting.’

Le Cheminant finished a staggering 10min. ahead of his closest rival in Leeds, qualifying him for the 2023 European Age Group Championships in Poland.

This is even more remarkable considering that his Olympic distance debut was little under a year ago – not to mention that he is competing at the bottom of his age group, having only turned 17 in February.

Undoubtedly a talent to watch, he has flourished under the guidance of Entire, where co-founder and Welsh world championship triathlete Iestyn Harrett is his personal coach.

Le Cheminant previously told the Guernsey Press that he was targeting a professional career – and this is clearly a step in the right direction.

‘Leeds was a great race for me,’ he said.

‘It was a very competitive field so to come out on top was a massive achievement and great confidence boost.

‘It shows me that the hard work I’m putting in day-to-day and the guidance I’m receiving from my coach is working.

‘Triathlon is my absolute passion – you’ve got to love the sport to get to the levels I’m aspiring to, but it’s performances like this that really remind you why you put your heart and soul into it.’

Lewis also highlighted a swathe of personal bests and high finishes from Entire athletes in Leeds, which included European qualifying results for Dave Mosley and Megan Chapple.

In the hope of engaging and developing more triathletes, Entire is currently running a one-month free trial for anyone wanting to give its programme a go.
