Guernsey ran in 10 tries saw off North Walsham 58-17 at Footes Lane on Saturday as Callum Roberts led the way with a hat-trick while there was also one for Doug Horrocks as he marked his 100th appearance for the club in style.

‘Doug’s been a really good servant, he’s done a huge amount and the only time he’s not playing is when we are resting him,’ said Raiders coach Jordan Reynolds.

‘He plays through injuries and is an absolute credit to the club. It’s great to get the win for him today.’

After a bright start of two tries in the opening seven minutes, Raiders played for more than a hour against 14 men following the sending off of North Walsham scrum-half Alfie Coop for a dangerous tip-tackle on Luke Sayer.

However, the Raiders coach was confident his side would have won against a full complement after witnessing what he called a ‘really positive’ display.

‘They were 12-0 down, we had Sayer through and about to score again, we were already in control by that stage. That decision did not alter the game,’ Reynolds said.

‘To be honest, fair play to the referee because a lot of referees would have given a yellow... he got the right call.

‘You just can’t do that, but by that time we already had a foothold, we had already done what we needed to do.

‘As soon as they go down to 14, it’s don’t overplay and keep to your percentages and that’s what I’m really proud about with the boys.’
