There are no signs of her slowing up any time soon, as well, as she won her latest title at the Hougue du Pommier convincingly 21-4.

The single her young opponent Catherine Snell picked up on the opening end of the match was the only shot earned by her opponent over the first 10 ends as Merrien quickly took control of the match and took herself to within a shot of victory at 20-1.

Snell battled on gamely to pick up three successive singles, but that only delayed the inevitable with Merrien passing the winning post on the 14th end.

The other two matches on the last day of A finals were the men’s pairs and triples, with the latter turning out to be a real thriller.

The B Harvey team of skip Ben Harvey, Dave King and recently-crowned men’s singles champion Jason Greenslade came flying out of the blocks against the Rebels (skip Gary Pitschou, Mike Le Noury and Steve Le Noury) to storm into a 14-1 lead after just five ends with two counts of three and two of four.

After three more ends, they still led by 13, but the momentum swung in dramatic fashion as Rebels picked up a count of seven on the ninth end.

A subsequent 1-1-3-3 sequence took Pitschou’s team into a two-shot lead, but the drama was not over as Harvey’s trio rallied to go into the 18th and final end level at 19-all.

It was the Rebels who came up trumps, though, to claim a remarkable 20-19 victory.

However, Greenslade was on the winning side in the pairs final.

In a match involving the three Merrien brothers, the Wales international joined forces with Ian to overcome Alan and Paul 27-11.

The victors were ahead throughout the match having picked up a count of three on the opening end.

The Guernsey champions will head to Jersey on 7-8 January to play in the Channel Islands finals and the CI winners will qualify to go the British Isles Championships in Scotland in March.
