The Green Lions showed tremendous character after falling behind early on to stay in the contest and respond with two second-half goals, with Ross Allen taking his tally for the club to 276 before Murray’s late breakaway goal snatched three crucial points to take them to 16th in the table.

Up against a side who they had beaten 3-1 just 10 days earlier, GFC conceded the opener on 10min. when Connor Holland broke forward and skipped past the out-rushing Josh Addison to score, despite Keanu Marsh’s last-ditch attempt to clear off the line.

Both sides created other chances in the first half, with Murray having a couple of shots saved while Addison made an outstanding stop to deny Harrison Bayley on the stroke of half-time.

Brad Pagliaroli slammed a drive against the crossbar for the hosts at the start of the second half, but GFC got back on level terms on the hour when Allen met Liam Mahon’s free-kick at the near post with a cushioned volleyed to guide the ball home.

A point would have been valuable for the visitors, but they did not settle for that and in the closing stages Murray beat the home keeper to the ball and calmly walked it into the net to earn all three.
