A REPEAT of the 2020 final is one of several juicy first-round ties in this year’s Island Men’s Championship.

A big name will fall at the first hurdle as four-times winner and third seed Danny Blondel will face Tom Le Huray, who edged him out by sinking a 40ft birdie putt on the 18th green in that showpiece three years ago.

Also in the bottom half of the draw, two other Guernsey team regulars and L’Ancresse clubmates Danny Bisson and Steve Mahy go head-to-head for a place in the second round.

In the top half of the draw, Jamie Blondel starts his title defence against Island senior team member Neil Tanguy while number one seed and newly-crowned Island senior champion Bobby Eggo goes up against the winner of the one preliminary round tie between Wayne Harwood and former finalist Dave Jeffery.
