Mark Romeril’s side made it three wins from three so far this campaign as Louis Travis scored twice and there were goals for Jacob Masterton-Pipet and Brendan Ferbrache as Rovers suffered a rare home defeat at Port Soif.

‘We’ve had two weeks to think about this game – and that’s what we did,’ said Romeril after the 4-0 success.

‘In terms of the preparation, we’ve spent two weeks looking at this game, so we did an hour-and-a-half of finishing drills and playing through the lines on Wednesday night.

‘It’s pleasing because the boys can be quite clinical. The front three are all good – they’ve got goals in them.’

Asked whether he would call it a ‘statement win’, Romeril said that was for others to decide.

‘We’re three games in, so... I know there’s a bit of noise, but yeah, I’ll let you guys do the talk and we literally switch off on this one now and we focus on the next game. It’s as simple as that.

‘I don’t know when the last time a team came down here and won 4-0, so if that’s a statement then I guess it is. But that’s for all of you to talk about rather than me.’

In Saturday's other Priaulx League games, Sylvans won 2-0 at the Track against Bels while Rangers beat Alderney 3-0 at the KGV.

Meanwhile, in the Wheway Cup in Jersey, Northerners suffered a 4-2 defeat at St Clement after leading 2-1 at half-time through goals from Archie Drillot and Chris Le Cheminant while St Paul’s won 2-1 against St Martin’s, for whom Rio Bowditch scored.

At Footes Lane, Guernsey FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to Marlow.
