The role, which he undertook on an interim basis last summer, will dovetail with his duties as a selector and support the delivery of senior men’s representative programme.

‘I have immense pride and passion for Guernsey Cricket and having spent over 10 years at the helm of Griffins CC, I feel very well equipped to now apply my skillset at Island level,’ Thomson said.

‘Having undertaken the role on an interim basis in recent months, including the successful tours to the Netherlands and Spain, I have already spent considerable time laying the foundations for a positive future and I am extremely excited for the progress we will make in 2024 and beyond.

‘It’s a really exciting time to get involved with Guernsey Cricket and I can’t wait to fully immerse myself in the role and provide the foundation for our group to perform to their highest level on the global stage.’

Guernsey director of cricket Jeremy Frith added: ‘Rob has been a fantastic support to everyone over the last 12 months and contributed significantly to a number of areas connected with both senior representative and domestic cricket. We are already working closely together and I’m delighted that this key leadership role has now been formalised.’
