Meanwhile, Bristol City technical director Brian Tinnion has given an update on the progress of Ben Acey and Tim Ap Sion in the week that Jack Griffin followed in their footsteps by joining the Robins from the Green Lions.

Striker Ap Sion is currently out of action having had a second surgery in his time at Bristol, the more recent operation being unrelated to the previous cruciate injury, but he has been guaranteed a one-year professional contract once his two-year scholarship is up at the end of this season.

‘We’ve given him a pro contract now so he’s got another year next year now to get the injury problems out of the way and then he’ll be with our U21s next year to hopefully, fingers crossed, get away from the injuries, train well and play well because he’s got all the attributes we’re looking for in a striker,’ said Tinnion.

Acey will be featuring for the City under-21 team today in the Premier League Cup against Tottenham Hotspur having also had an injury-affected season.

‘He’s got this season left, Ben, so we need to get him fit and playing and then we’ll see where he is by the end of the season and how his development is looking.

‘But it’s good to have him back on the pitch,’ Tinnion said.

Griffin will be in the Robins U18 squad to face Bournemouth today.
