The Island Games stalwart, who has been the team manager for the last 16 years, replaces Brian Allen after a decade of service in the role.

Marley's assumption of the lead role, in which he has committed to a two-year term, came at an annual general meeting that also featured various other changes in Giga's board of directors.

That includes Rick Denton stepping down as treasurer after eight years on the board.

He will be replaced by previous deputy treasurer Matt Bowen, an experienced accounting professional who volunteered as a Games maker at London 2012 and moved into managing, then officially directing, the finances at Guernsey FC.

Previous travel co-ordinator Karen Archenoul now takes on the role of team manager.

Archenoul has a multi-sporting background, most prominently her eight Island Games in volleyball, and has been serving the Giga board since November 2015.

The two new additions to the board are badminton stalwarts Jane Le Tissier and Sue Naftel.

Le Tissier has played numerous sports over the years, most notably at Island level in badminton and netball, and served on multiple committees.

Naftel is an avid supporter of sport and has been tournament director for badminton at several Island Games, including Guernsey 2023.

Marley, whose own sporting background is as a Games volleyballer, is excited for his new role.

'Thanks to Brian and Rick for their many years of service and invaluable support for the board but also for Team Guernsey,' he said.

'They’re certainly leaving on a high after the incredible success of hosting the Games in Guernsey last summer.

'I’m honoured to be the new chairman after 16 years as team manager. I’m looking forward to working with the new board as we prepare for the Games in Orkney next year and I’d like to welcome Jane and Sue to the team.

'We’ve got lots to look forward to as we get Team Guernsey ready for their next Games.'

Chris Jackson continues as secretary and Isla Wright retains the media liaison role.

At the AGM, Kathy Stuart was also made an honorary life member of Giga for her incredible contribution to the Island Games in a variety of capacities.
