Despite coming from behind to go into the half-time interval on level terms, the Green Lions suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road at Hartley Wintney, though they took positives from their performance.

The Hampshire-based hosts started off strongly and after a series of set-pieces early on, they took the lead after 10 minutes when one of their many new signings, prolific striker Charlie Postance, rose highest to head home a cross into the box.

GFC equalised on the half-hour when Ross Allen crossed for Sam Murray to nod in and they maintained parity until the break.

Just before the hour mark, though, some creativity from Reece Wylie teed up Aderi Dede to slot past Josh Addison as the hosts retook the lead.

GFC were unable to conjure another equalier in a second half during which both Fin Du Port and Zach Gilman came off the bench to make their debuts for the Green Lions.

However, young Gilman did not finish the game as he was shown a straight red card late on for a ‘robust’ challenge.

GFC return to action on Saturday 24 August when Harrow Borough, who beat Ashford Town 1-0 at the weekend, are the visitors to Footes Lane.
