The open co-ed slowpitch event, which will be played at Farnham Park Baseball and Softball Complex and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, pits real or expat national or regional teams from around the world against each other and is regarded as a very high level of competition.

Ryan De Jersey, who coaches the Guernsey squad along with Jordan Gallienne, is eager to see how the Sarnian team will fare.

‘We are taking one of our strongest teams away for the World Series this year,’ De Jersey said.

‘We have been trying to build a team that is capable of competing in the upcoming Co-Ed Slowpitch European Championship in 2026.

‘With giving players game time in various other tournaments we have travelled to over the past couple of years, I am hoping for a high finishing position this time around and being able to compete with the strongest teams in the groups.

‘The future is looking very bright for Guernsey Softball, we have some very strong and capable youngsters bursting through the development programme and into Division Two.’

The tournament takes place on 7-8 September. Last year 16 teams took part.
