Guernsey’s latest bonus-point victory came on the road at Old Albanian on Saturday and kept them second in the table, just three points off TJs, who are the only side to have beaten them this season.

‘What we’re happy about is we have only dropped one game and the way those games have gone since that defeat – so we are still winning having picked up early momentum,’ said Guernsey director of rugby Jordan Reynolds.

‘But there is a huge amount we can develop, so much more this group can offer, and that’s the exciting part.’

With one game remaining before the first bye weekend of the season at the start of November, Reynolds is targeting a magnificent seven wins from eight games before the clocks go back.

However, Raiders have not beaten Bury St Edmunds, who visit Footes Lane this coming Saturday, since September 2013.

‘Burys are a side we have not beaten in 10 years, so it has been a long time although we have had a few close encounters with them,’ Reynolds said.

‘We want to give it one last push before the first break and it’s a great game to have and be motivated about because there’s no love lost between the two sides, so there will be a lot of under-riding emotion and if we can harness that and give a big finish to this block of fixtures, it would make it a fantastic start to our season.’
