REIGNING Channel Island champions Old Victorians highlighted why they are the side to beat once again on a day where the bat dominated the ball in the CI Championship double-header in Guernsey.

Coming up against Guernsey champions Argyll Investments at Port Soif, a cracker was expected and it looked like the case after the home side posted 301 for seven from 50 overs on what was the flattest surface imaginable.

It was a memorable day for young Glenn Le Tissier, who posted his first career century, his 111 coming from just 99 balls, including 14 boundaries.

He shared in an opening wicket stand of 68 with youngster Will Thompson, while Will Peatfield's quickfire 54 and Dom Rigby's 32 were the other notable contributions after Argylls had won the toss and decided to have a bat.
