SA star Cook praises the Guernsey youth structure

FORMER South African batting star Jimmy Cook has complimented Guernsey cricket's youth set-up.

The scorer of more than 7,500 runs in just three seasons for Somerset has been in the island this week with the county's U15 side for friendly matches against Guernsey U15s.

Cook was impressed by the standard of the Guernsey team. 'They are well organised,' he said. 'The coaching must be pretty solid and it looks like there are good things happening in Guernsey cricket.'

Cook hopes the link between Guernsey and Somerset can be an annual one, believing a pre-season link will be beneficial to both parties.
