A humble with 'Bumble'

LANCASTRIAN congratulates Yorkshireman is not a daily occurrence in sport.

But Tyke and long-serving Guernsey cricket coach Mike Kinder was happy to shake the hand of former England star and now TV cricket commentator David Lloyd last week, when he collected a coaching award from the man affectionately known as 'Bumble'.

Kinder was recognised for his outstanding services to grassroots cricket by Lloyd at the fourth npower Test against India at the Kia Oval. So while England's finest took a brief break from hammering India the Guernsey coach was presented with both county and regional coaching certificates by the former England player as part of the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education Programme.

Kinder, who these days coaches Beechwood teams, the island under-11s and those below, said he felt quite humble. 'It was a bit of a surprise and I didn't expect it.'
