SCOTT NEWMAN will bolster JT Giants' batting line-up as they begin the second season of the Clydesdale Bank International GPL at Port Soif tomorrow.
The 32-year-old Kent and former Surrey star is renowned as a big hitter and will replace Will Adkin as the Giants' professional just for this weekend, with Adkin involved in Sussex's second XI T20 finals.
He will bat at number three in captain Tom Kimber's line-up for the curtain-raiser against champions Mourant Ozannes, with GH Smit and Glenn Le Tissier as openers.
However, Mourants captain Lee Savident is also in confident mood, looking for back-to-back triumphs with all-rounder Paul Franks their professional again.
