St Pierre's island star smashed an astonishing 90 off just 29 balls to set the platform for his side's mammoth 20-over total of 237.
Smit, who got his eye in by facing two dot balls at the start of his innings, made the most of the powerplay overs as virtually everything he hit reached the boundary, his final tally being 10 fours and seven sixes.
The South African brought up his half century in 19 balls, his remaining 38 runs coming off just nine deliveries before he eventually holed out to Dave Piesing off Matt Stokes.
