THE presence of a modern-day cycling legend could aid sprinter Tobyn Horton (pictured) as he prepares for his maiden Tour of Britain.

Starting on Sunday in Peebles in the Scottish Borders, the eight-day event will take in the length and breadth of the UK, with 24-year-old Sarnian Horton in the mix for the first time.

And he will be joined on the start line by Mark Cavendish, the Tour de France's green jersey winner and without doubt the world's finest sprinter, who has won 20 stages in the famous event.

Although Motorpoint Pro Cycling rider Horton is not expecting to challenge for event victory, he explains that Cavendish's first appearance since 2007 should help turn the race style into his preferred method.
